TerraTex PF Asphalt Strain Alleviating (SAMI) Geotextile
When asphalt pavements exhibit reflective cracking Terratex™ PF paving fabrics combined with the asphalt overlay act as a ‘Strain Alleviating Membrane Interlayer’ (SAMI) and moisture barrier.
The combination of the fabric and the asphalt tack coat results in strain relief at the interface of the old and the new pavement as well as greatly reducing the permeability of the pavement overlay. The net result is reduced infiltration of surface water into the pavement structure and reducing the re-appearance of reflective cracking in the new overlay (strain relief).
